The World’s Worst Car Crash Recreated in Real Life

Charles et Mélanie, youtubeurs cascadeurs chez Webedia suivis par plus d’un million d’abonnés, développent des contenus spectaculaires autour du challenge, de l’expérience extrême et du dépassement de soi. Sur ce projet, j’avais la responsabilité complète de toute la coordination de production de leurs vidéos YouTube, de la préparation jusqu’à la post-production.

L’idée de cette vidéo : reproduire en conditions réelles un accident de voiture plongeant dans un lac afin de tester les chances de survie dans une telle situation, avec Charles comme cobaye. Un concept aussi impressionnant que complexe à mettre en œuvre, nécessitant une anticipation extrême sur tous les aspects de production.

À partir du brief créatif, j’ai piloté seule l’ensemble de la production du projet : organisation logistique, coordination des équipes techniques vidéo et son, gestion des plannings, préparation du tournage, suivi du post-tournage, gestion des conditions météo, mais surtout toute la partie sécurité, absolument essentielle sur ce type d’expérience où une erreur peut avoir des conséquences dramatiques.

Le tournage impliquait de nombreuses contraintes techniques et réglementaires. Il a notamment fallu obtenir des autorisations spécifiques pour réaliser cette cascade au lac du Circuit Paul Ricard, gérer la sécurisation complète de la zone, mettre en place des protocoles de sécurité stricts et coordonner différents intervenants spécialisés.

Un important travail de préparation a également été nécessaire autour du véhicule utilisé pour le tournage : dépollution complète de la voiture afin d’éviter tout risque de contamination du lac, adaptation technique du véhicule pour le tournage, puis gestion de son immersion grâce à une grue permettant de descendre la voiture dans l’eau dans des conditions parfaitement contrôlées.

Cette production a mobilisé une équipe technique conséquente et une coordination permanente entre sécurité, technique, logistique et réalisation afin de garantir le bon déroulement du projet dans un environnement particulièrement complexe.

Un défi hors norme, extrêmement enrichissant humainement et professionnellement, qui reste aujourd’hui l’une des productions les plus marquantes que j’ai eu l’opportunité de piloter.

One of the most intense and demanding productions I have ever worked on.

Charles and Mélanie, stunt YouTubers from Webedia followed by more than one million subscribers, create spectacular content focused on challenges, extreme experiences, and pushing boundaries. For this project, I was fully responsible for the entire production coordination of their YouTube videos, from pre-production through to post-production.

The concept of the video was to recreate, in real-life conditions, a car accident sinking into a lake in order to test survival chances in such a situation, with Charles acting as the test subject. A concept as impressive as it was complex to execute, requiring extreme anticipation across every aspect of the production.

Starting from the creative brief, I independently managed the entire production process: logistical organization, coordination of the video and sound technical crews, scheduling management, pre-shoot preparation, post-production follow-up, weather condition monitoring, and above all, the safety management, which was absolutely critical on a project where a single mistake could have dramatic consequences.

The shoot involved numerous technical and regulatory constraints. We notably had to secure specific authorizations to perform the stunt at the Paul Ricard Circuit lake, oversee the full safety management of the area, implement strict safety protocols, and coordinate several specialized teams.

A significant amount of preparation work was also required for the vehicle used during filming: fully depolluting the car to prevent any environmental contamination of the lake, technically adapting the vehicle for the stunt, and managing its immersion using a crane to lower the car into the water under fully controlled conditions.

This production mobilized a large technical crew and required constant coordination between safety, technical operations, logistics, and direction in order to guarantee the smooth execution of the project within an extremely complex environment.

An extraordinary challenge that was both personally and professionally rewarding, and that remains one of the most memorable productions I have ever had the opportunity to lead.
